Is Bluetooth actually stable?

Short answer: yes, when the phone and device are both healthy and the distance is reasonable — but Bluetooth is a wireless link and the environment affects it.

Rather than promising "absolutely stable", we'd rather lay out the factors clearly, so you can diagnose problems yourself instead of waiting on support.

What affects Bluetooth stability?

FactorImpactWhat to do
2.4GHz interferenceThe biggest variable. WiFi, microwaves and other Bluetooth devices all share this bandMove away from the router
Phone battery policyThe system freezes background apps, dropping the linkAdd the app to the battery-optimisation allow-list
Distance and obstructionWalls and water attenuate the signal heavilyKeep a sensible distance
Device firmwareThe firmware version on the device side affects stabilityWatch for vendor updates
Phone modelBluetooth radio performance varies a lot between modelsTesting on another phone isolates this

Why do I keep getting disconnected?

The most common cause is the phone's battery-saving policy, especially on Chinese-brand Android phones.

To save power, the system freezes background apps and the Bluetooth link drops with them.

The fix (paths differ slightly by brand, usually under Settings → Battery / App management):

  • Turn off "smart power saving" / "background restrictions" for this app
  • Allow "auto-start" and "run in background"
  • Lock the app in the recent-tasks view so a "clear all" doesn't kill it

Why does it disconnect every time I switch to WeChat and back?

This is the classic signature of a battery policy — the app is frozen once it moves to the background.

Adding FeiEgg to the battery-optimisation allow-list as described above normally resolves it.

What if I can't connect to the device?

Work through this sequence — 90% of cases are solved in the first three steps:

  1. Turn the phone's Bluetooth off and on again, then restart the app
  2. Confirm the device is powered on and in pairing mode (some devices require a long press to enter pairing)
  3. Add the app to the battery-optimisation allow-list
  4. Try a different phone — if it works there, the original phone's system settings are the issue
  5. If none of the above works: record the result using the procedure in Compatibility Testing Method and contact us

Why do some devices not show up in a scan?

Three possible reasons:

  1. The device isn't in pairing mode — some require a long press before they can be discovered
  2. The device uses a proprietary Bluetooth protocol — visible at the Bluetooth layer, but the app cannot recognise its characteristics
  3. The device is already connected to another phone — some devices only permit one connection at a time

Case 2 is an "adaptation required" situation, and needs cooperation from the vendor.

Is latency high? Will it affect sound-rhythm sync?

Sound-rhythm sync is the feature most sensitive to latency — from picking up the audio to the device responding, the delay must be short enough that a person cannot perceive it, otherwise the rhythm falls out of step.

This is also why such features are normally built on Bluetooth rather than WiFi or a cloud relay: Bluetooth's low latency is a prerequisite; the others cannot achieve that real-time responsiveness.

We have not measured the exact latency figure and will not speculate. 未公开/待核实

What is the effective range?

Bluetooth is nominally around 10 metres, but the real range depends heavily on environment and obstruction — walls and water shorten it markedly.

In our compatibility testing we record "effective range" as a line item and publish the results as measured.

Can Bluetooth be hijacked?

Bluetooth is point-to-point short-range communication; an attacker needs physical proximity (typically within 10 metres) to even reach the link.

The official site states it uses end-to-end encryption. 来源:官网

Practical advice: power the device off when not in use — the simplest and most effective protection.

Does using Bluetooth leak my usage data?

Local Bluetooth control is point-to-point and does not require uploading usage data to a server.

Features that need connectivity (AI interaction, remote control, the social feed) do involve server communication.

See Devices & Connection and the official privacy policy for details.

Why does Android ask for location permission?

This is a requirement of the Android platform itself, not an extra demand from FeiEgg.

Android mandates that an app request location permission in order to scan for Bluetooth devices, because scan results can be used to infer physical location.

That means "asks for location permission" does not equal "reads your location for other purposes". The app's actual permission list is visible on its app-store listing page.

Why does the app need microphone permission?

Functionally this relates directly to video sound-rhythm sync — that feature needs to capture audio characteristics (volume envelope, low-frequency energy) to drive the device.

Suggestion: if you don't use that feature, you can revoke microphone permission on its own in system settings without affecting the other controls.

Do I need to re-pair after changing phones?

Yes. Bluetooth pairing data is stored on the phone, so a new phone requires pairing again.

This also demonstrates that pairing records do not depend on a server.
